Aww

So these are probably designed for children but I haven't let that stop me before...

From a shop in Chinatown that is perpetually 50% off (I don't think I could justify paying $6 for that bow even if it is the cutest thing ever). I failed miserably at trying to get a picture of them in my hair - next time I will enlist someone else to do photography duty!

Thrifted Pt. 1

This is (some of) the stuff I found for myself:

I've wanted one of these for so long! This one is from an estate sale.

From a different estate sale, $10!

50¢ kangaroo soap holder (it suctions to the corner of the bath) & $2 anchor buttons

I can learn how to tie complicated knots

From the flea market, this cat now resides in a gilded frame I got at the thrift store. It's waiting to go up on my portrait wall along with the strange boy from the 60s, Salina class of 1980, and paint-by-numbers cats.

Also cat-themed, this has a hole in the bottom for a light bulb to go in. So weird.

I love this

Old soup spoons!

This is probably one of the best things I've ever thrifted. the pictures are kind of terrible but in real life, it's amazing! It almost makes me wish it were fall just so I could wear it (velvet is probably not the best idea in this weather).

Anyway, that's about it. I have a million photos to edit for the store but when they're done I'll put them up, too!

Photobooth

I forgot about these photobooth pictures I scanned a few weeks ago from a work party -

Happy 4th

Back from my hiatus, I did tons of thrifting in Ohio last week! Today is my third favorite holiday and we went up to Prospect Park and got burritos and ate them in the shade and then went to the botanic garden.

We went to the end of our street to watch fireworks but they were somewhat disappointing because in celebration of Henry Hudson, they moved them to the Hudson River. So everything except the tallest ones were totally obscured by downtown Manhattan. At least we got a good view of Jersey City's? Oh well! We thought it was a pretty even trade for only having to walk less than 5 minutes instead of sitting in a huge crowd and taking the subway for an hour.

It's been a while

Oops! It's been a month since I last posted. I went to visit my parents and got out of touch with the internet and so on. I'm working on a lot of stuff with Matt (we got a wholesale account with Alternative Apparel and pretty soon we'll hopefully have printed & dyed stuff up on our Etsy). Today is rainy and grey and I'm off to mail some things, but before I go, my delicious 10-minute lunch:

I used shiro miso (any kind of miso is fine), dashi, ramen, veggies (I used mushrooms, carrots, and spring onions)

Boil two cups water in a small pot, add 2 tbsp miso and 1/2 tsp dashi until dissolved, add veggies and ramen and cook for 4-5 minutes depending on how chewy you like your noodles

done! I could eat this every day.

Now it's post office time and then maybe a museum. I can't decide if I want to go back to the Brooklyn Museum (I was just there a few days ago) since I have a membership or to the Met or Natural History Museum because I haven't been there in forever.
